Payroll taxes and recession are killing my business
Posted on 12/14/2011
I own a salon in Rhinebeck, New York. I started by business in 2002…Payroll taxes are a killer. Huge, if not more than rent.
I have a girl who is your ideal employee…puts me to shame. I wish I could do what she does. It’s sad when it gets to a point where…all you’re looking at is, “Oh my god, that’s more I have to pay in payroll.” Now this one person jumps my payroll [tax] from $1,000 to $2,000, just on her alone…It should be the better she does, the better we do.
Each employee I have [has] a huge dollar sign on their heads…They need to live too. I can’t lower the amount that I pay them just because there’s too much tax I have to pay. I mean, that’s not right. But that’s the reality of it.
